Last year I was sent a press pack by Elite Imports Ltd who are the company responsible for bringing Käserei Champignon cheeses into the country, two of which are the cheesy favourites Cambozola & Montagnolo. In the pack they announced a new range of cheeses designed especially for the grill from their newest brand Rougette, and they sound tasty! Well last week I had the pleasure of meeting Catherine from Elite Imports where we talked Cheese, Christmas, Careers and much more. It was lovely to meet her and she presented me with a selection of the Bon-Fire range for me to try. Now at the moment due to the circumstances this year the launch has been postponed in the UK until 2021 but because I created this post last year they have given me some to try and also some to sell on my cheese counter. I will be holding a special Saturday featuring a vast array of their cheeses and some of which are not even available in the UK yet so when they are gone they are gone. With the arrival of late August bank holiday weekend it was the perfect time to try a grilled cheese burger & the bell-pepper marinated grilling cheese. Starting with the the Grilling Cheese patty this is a mild cheese with a brie-like texture, I think its like Cambozola but without the blue. Having grilled for the amount of time it turned into a soft but grilled cheese that goes into a burger bun perfectly, great as a vegetarian alternative to a meat burger. I enjoyed this but out of the two this wasn’t my favourite because I loved the flavour of bell-pepper marinated grilling cheese.
With recyclable packaging and tray this is brilliantly handy for a quick snack for two. Only needing to be cooked for 6-8 mins this cheese can be rustled up for a quick lunch or for your BBQ. I much preferred this because of the bell-pepper sweetness and mild heat it provides with the creaminess of the cheese. In the shop I will have available the Bell-Pepper and herb marinated versions but like I said it will be in a very limited supply.
When launching there are three types of cheese, made with all-natural ingredients: a mild and creamy soft-ripened cheese, which comes in two individually packed cheeses; and a semi-soft cheese marinated in herbs or bell-pepper, which comes in a convenient ready-to-grill pan. The cheeses are unique and will truly bring something special to the summer barbecue experience.
